BEACH HOUSE

A reimagined mid-century beach house, where original timber structure and modern coastal living meet at the water’s edge.

ABOUT

Originally built in 1944 as a modest beach cottage and later transformed into a mid-century timber frame home, this property has been thoughtfully reimagined to preserve its character while introducing modern comfort. Construction began on January 1st and was completed in time for summer, delivering a 4 bedroom, 4 bath residence designed around coastal living. The original timber structure was carefully restored, with beams sanded back and highlighted throughout the interior, paired with whitewashed wide-plank flooring from Castle Bespoke Flooring and recycled teak detailing along the loft edges. Custom kitchen cabinetry reflects a beach-worn aesthetic, complemented by handcrafted organic wood handles, while existing stone fireplaces were refinished for a lighter, more contemporary feel.

All core systems—including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical—were fully replaced, and integrated LED lighting at 2700K brings a consistent, warm atmosphere throughout. Exterior spaces are designed for durability and ease, featuring IPE decking that remains cool underfoot, artificial turf for practical transitions from beach to home, and multiple outdoor rooms defined by corten steel planters and a fire pit. A hot and cold outdoor shower, inset hot tub near the shoreline, and flexible deck seating create a setting equally suited for gatherings or quiet retreat.

The property spans over 1.5 acres, including tidelands and a Madrona-covered slope, offering a rare connection to both land and water. With direct access for boats or seaplanes, custom paddleboard and kayak storage, and integrated lighting along the bulkhead, the home supports a fully immersive waterfront lifestyle—blending heritage, craftsmanship, and a distinctly Pacific Northwest sense of place.
