HJEMSTED | EPLE The luminous one.
Largest lot in the collection. Wes-facing, with Puget Sound beyond.

EPLE
Lot 1 — 18638 2nd Ave SW, Normandy Park
4 bed / 3.5 bath / 3,352 sq ft / 12,032 sq ft lot / 2-car garage
Eple — Norwegian for apple — sits on the largest lot in the collection, its meadow garden a direct continuation of the orchard that shaped this land for a century. The architecture responds to the site with restraint: a dark charcoal mass above, a warm vertical-grain wood plinth below, and a glass balcony railing that opens the upper level to an unobstructed view of Puget Sound.
Inside, the warmth carries through. Polished concrete floors, warm oak cabinetry, stone counters with gold veining, and brass fixtures throughout — a palette that is grounded without being heavy, luminous without being loud. The primary suite occupies the full western edge of the upper level, oriented to the water, with a spa bath sequenced around a ribbed freestanding soaking tub and an oversized shower.
An upper-level room for fitness, practice, or stillness looks out to the same view as the primary suite. The main level includes a private guest suite with ensuite bath. The garden, designed by Studio Terrain, restores the orchard with apple and espalier pear varieties alongside fig, ironwood, pine, and witch hazel — a planting plan rooted in the land's history and scaled for the generations ahead.

The orchard below, the Sound beyond. The primary suite at the top of the homestead.

-
Situated within Normandy Park — one of the South Puget Sound's most private and enduring waterfront communities
-
Protected coastal setting with established tree canopy and low-density zoning
-
Direct access to saltwater beaches along the Puget Sound shoreline
-
Lush parks, forested trails, and waterfront paths woven through the community
-
Minutes from Seattle, Tacoma, and Sea-Tac International Airport
-
A community defined by longevity, privacy, and natural setting
Normandy Park occupies a rare position on the Puget Sound — a coastal community that has remained deliberately quiet, low-density, and deeply connected to its natural setting. Tree-lined streets give way to saltwater beaches, forested parks, and trails that wind from the bluff to the water's edge. Three Tree Point anchors the shoreline to the south, drawing kayakers, divers, and those who simply want to watch the ferry lights cross the Sound at dusk. Seattle and Tacoma are both within thirty minutes. Sea-Tac is closer still. Yet Normandy Park feels unhurried — a place where the land and water set the pace, and the community has chosen to keep it that way.

Blonde Ambition ornamental grass and Mexican feather grass carry the meadow spirit of the original homestead into the planting beds.
